Turmeric Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. Fresh grated turmeric*
  • 2 c Rice milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. Coconut sugar
  • Crack of fresh pepper (optional)
  • fresh grated nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tsp. Coconut Oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the skin from the outside of the turmeric root and grate it with a microplane into a small sauce pan.
  2. Cook fresh turmeric for a few seconds on it's own in the pan until fragrant, careful not to let it burn.
  3. Add in milk and sugar and then stir. Allow the milk to come to a low simmer and then remove from heat. Allow to steep for five minutes, then strain through a fine mesh strainer.
  4. Stir coconut oil into the liquid until melted if using. Crack pepper and grate nutmeg over the drink if using. Enjoy!
